About Jo Fraser
Born in 1986, Jo Fraser grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland. She studied and received her BA in Fine Arts from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee in 2008. She has been commissioned to produce portraits for a selection of Scotland's Stately Homes and Castles, and has exhibited twice in The BP Portrait Award at The National Portrait Gallery in London. In 2011, She won the BP Portrait Travel Award and Grant, which funded her research project on mountain weaving communities in Peru, which she exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in 2012. Jo completed the work while recipient of The Edinburgh Academy residency 2011-12. The following year, She studied under Charles Cecil in his Florence Atelier.
She is a recipient of the Ian Eadie Award for Drawing and Painting and one of the very few three-time recipients of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award. She has given public lectures and workshops on the subject of painting and her own work at The National Portrait Gallery and The National Galleries of Scotland, and in 2016, She presented the DofE Gold Awards for youth achievement at Holyrood Palace alongside The Earl of Wessex.
Jo now lives with her husband in London and works from her studio in Archway.
